Organization Overview
About Us
Van Zandt County Humane Society is a small group of volunteers who work diligently to rescue,spay/neuter, medicate and rehome stray animals. We are one of the only no kill shelters in the area, so the volunteers foster all the dogs and cats in their homes.
Who We Are
Van Zandt County Humane Society provides foster homes for stray and abandonded dogs and cats throughout the county. We heartworm test, spay and neuter all animals who come through our stystem. We also offer educational programs to school age chilren on animal safety and the importance of spaying and nueterin their pets.
We have recently started a Community Outreach Program which helps pay the cost of spay/neuters for those in the area who could not otherwise afford this service. We also help pay some of the vet cost or medicines for sick or injured animals in the community.
Our Organization's Mission
To help all the animals we can and to promote spay/neutering of pets. We would like to build a low cost spay/neuter clinic in Van Zandt County since there is not one available except in other counties.
Who We Serve
All of East Texas.
Our Programs
Our educational program involves videos and coloring books to school age children. These videos teach how to take care of their pets and how to be safe around strange dogs. This program has helped several children that we know of when faced with a vicous dog. These videos teach the children how to stand like trees or lay like rocks until the animal has left. We also take dogs to these programs for the children to pet.

Education to the general public about the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
Upcoming Events
We are always working of fundraising ideas. We have a benefit concert in the works for sometime in the fall.

I am far too familiar with the struggles of rescues and shelters in Texas... please let us know how we can network and assist you in getting the word out for your cause.

Good luck to you and God Bless the work you do for those Texas babies.
