Organization Overview
About Us
The Pediatric Therapy Center (PTC) is the only non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Wenatchee WA, dedicated to serving children birth-to-three years of age with developmental disabilities or delays. Our center was founded in 1955 and is one of sixteen certified neuro-developmental centers in Washington State. The center’s goal is to help each child reach his or her maximum potential. Our team is multi-disciplined including a developmental pediatrician, nurse, speech and language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and early childhood education team. We work closely with families to conduct assessments and develop personalized, comprehensive programs of therapy, education, and family-based support in-home and community based. Who we serve: Our center provides developmental assessment and therapy for children, birth to three years of age, who have or are at risk for developmental disabilities or delays. Children are referred because of concerns about their development which may include movement, play, language or feeding skills. With state and local funding cuts, we need your help now more than ever to continue to help those families in need!
Who We Are
Our center was founded in 1955 and is one of sixteen certified neuromuscular centers in Washington State. We provide a range of comprehensive assessment, treatment, and educational services for children birth-to-three years of age who exhibit developmental delays.

We believe that children learn best in their natural environment (e.g., their home, their school/educational environment or their community. Children are treated using developmentally appropriate, evidence based techniques that take into account their specific strengths, needs and their family's customs and routines. Parents and teachers can easily follow through with individual therapy strategies that work within the daily lives of their children.

We believe in the potential of every child to grow, develop, and contribute. Our goal is to assist developmentally delayed children in all social, emotional, physical and intellectual areas. We are also committed to supporting, encouraging, and respecting families.

We believe that family involvement in their child’s program is vital to the child’s success. We view you, the parent or guardian, as an integral part of our therapy team.

Our integrated preschool program provides a pre-academic setting for children between the ages of 18 and 36 months to grow, learn, and be part of a community with their peers. We believe that by providing opportunities like this to the children we serve, we are preparing them for the best possible future.

While therapy is not always a cure for many severe disorders and/or disabilities, we strive to provide the best possible value added services to help you and your child reach his or her fullest potential.

Board of Directors
Kim Meek - President: I am a physical therapist by trade who has been a board member for four years. While I work at Central Washington Hospital and my professional focus is adult care, I have always had a passion for pediatric therapy. During my physical therapy education I did an internship at Shriner’s Children’s hospital in Portland Oregon. Since then, I have been a firm believer in early intervention and in providing quality services to children with disabilities. I also believe we play a key role in supporting families and in educating our community. It is essential to have quality services in Wenatchee that can augment the services some families receive at the large specialty centers. I have been a resident of Wenatchee for six years and have fallen in love with the recreation and the community that this area offers. My son and I now proudly call Wenatchee home. As a board member for the past few years, I have seen the need for birth to three therapy services grow exponentially as our community continues to grow. I am excited to be part of the team as we prepare to move the Pediatric Therapy into the future.

Stacee Malstead - Vice President: Stacee has been a member of the board since 2002. She moved to Wenatchee in 2002 and became involved with the PTC when her oldest child who has Down syndrome received services there. Stacee has been a physical therapist since 1997 and is currently working at Central Washington Hospital. She is married to an occupational therapist and they have three young children. Since both her professional and personal experiences have involved assisting special needs children achieve there highest potential she feels strongly about the need for the PTC to succeed in this community. When not working or taking care of her children she loves all that Wenatchee has to offer including skiing, biking, camping and hiking.

Ammy Snow - Treasurer: I was born and raised in Wenatchee, went to college at Central Washington University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Business, specializing in Operations Management and Information Systems. After college I worked as an industrial engineer before taking on my current role as a mother. I have two children (ages 5 and 3), one of which received services at the PTC. Prior to becoming a full-time mom, I worked in banking and in the business office of a school district. I am currently on the steering team of the Leavenworth MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group, am co-president, with my husband Beau of 7 years, of the Cascade Booster Club for the 2008-2009 school year, and serve in a number of ministries at the Nazarene Church in Leavenworth. I am very passionate about early learning and am honored to be a part of the future success of the PTC!

Vickie Cunderla - Secretary: I was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota. I went to college in Minnesota at Rochester Community College and Mankato State University. I have a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business. After college I moved to Portland, Oregon and worked as a Computer Programmer for Advanced Data Concepts from 1984 – 1988. In 1988 I moved to Wenatchee where I currently live with my husband and 12 year son. In 1988 I started working for the United States Forest Service as a Computer Specialist where I am currently employed. I have been a board member for the Pediatric Therapy Center since 2005.My family and I enjoy Skate Skiing, hiking, and biking.

Erik Peterson: Erik Peterson is a Washington State University graduate and is a financial advisor with Financial Alternatives in Wenatchee. He is an active Rotarian in the community and enjoys volunteering on the board of the Pediatric Therapy Center. He is married to Marci Peterson and has two kids, Sarah and Gunnar. Erik enjoys anything outdoors and spends time hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and both waterskiing and snow skiing.

Ted Fukuzawa: I’m a life long resident of Chelan County and have lived in the valley (Cashmere) for over 36 years. I am currently employed with Banner Bank as a Commercial Loan Officer. I’ve been blessed to have two wonderful children, a daughter and a son. My son actually received Occupational and Motor & Sensory Integration services from the Pediatric Therapy Center (PTC), which was then called Cerebral Palsy of Wenatchee. This service was vital in his development, and now I want to give something back to Center and the community by being involved as a Board Member. I have served on the PTC board for just over a year. The PTC provides a vital service to those children (birth to three) who are delayed in development, and we are very fortunate to have these services available within this community we call home.

Colleen Diener: Colleen Diener; Board Director: Colleen joined the PTC Board of Directors in 2007, and looks forward to the future success of the PTC and its ongoing perpetuation of early development and learning in our local Chelan and Douglas community. A recent transplant to this area, Colleen moved to Wenatchee in 2005 from her former hometown of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Growing up in a thriving community facilitated her involvement in working to support education and activities for children, and Colleen continues to bring that passion and enthusiasm to her work with the PTC. Colleen attended the University of Idaho where she earned an undergraduate degree in Natural Resources Ecology and Conservation and then went on to acquire a Juris Doctorate in law. Colleen is an attorney with Jeffers, Danielson, Sonn & Aylward, P.S. What Sets Us Apart
Our services are provided by licensed therapist traveling and visiting each child’s home or community setting. As the only non-profit pediatric therapy center in North Central Washington, our coverage area is large. We serve children residing in Chelan and Douglas Counties. By exception, when services are available, we may serve some out of county children.
Objectives for This Fiscal Year
With state and local funding cuts, we must increase funding to support and continue "in-home" pediatric therapy and care. With the current and projected state and local funding cuts and being the only non-profit center providing these services in the home, we need support now more than ever.

Families really need in-home care! Many of the families were serve, do not have the means or ability to travel to our center. With our area coverage so large, we need to go to them!
