I currently serve as the Business Manager for Gilda's Club Grand Rapids.  Prior to GCGR I was the Executive Director for a smaller non-profit organization in Grand Rapids called Timberland RC&D.  Before that, I spent 8 years in the US Marine Corps until I was injured and medically retired. 

I'm just a normal guy from Grand Rapids, MI, but in my journey through life, I encountered Someone who made a difference in my life.  He walks with me. He talks with me. When I wake up in the morning, He's there. He tells me that He loves me so much that He died a death that no one deserves to die. 

Jesus Christ is my spiritual mentor.

As a young man, I had some misguided notions about success. Christ has taught me that success is less about what someone achieves outwardly (e.g., degrees, honors, high pay) and more about what they gain inwardly (e.g., a purified heart).

Jesus has taught me three principles about inward achievement. The first principle is "external discipline." It is important to spend time alone with God reading the Bible, praying, and memorizing Scripture. We need to practice these external disciplines.  Jesus found enough time to save the planet ... why can't we find enough time to talk with God.  Second, my mentor, Jesus, taught me to diminish an appreciation for self.  It's about others ... not that man in the mirror. Last, my mentor taught me to cultivate ethical congruence. Live in such a way that your actions can be made universal law. That is ethical congruence.
