About Us
Outreach Uganda is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Colorado and dedicated to helping empower poor people in Uganda. We are currently supporting two primary projects in Uganda: the Uganda women beaders located in both Jinja and Kitgum Uganda, and the Maranatha Orphanage and Schools located in Mityana, Uganda.
Who We Are
We are a Colorado-based nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization which is dedicated to helping empower poor people in Uganda.
Our Organization's Mission
Our mission is to empower poor people in Uganda. To do this we will work with established community groups in Uganda to bring hope and improve lives, especially in the areas of education, women's empowerment, and self-sufficiency through job creation.
Who We Serve
Poor people in Uganda, especially orphans and women who have been adversely affected by AIDS and other diseases, and/or the war in northern Uganda.
Our Programs
We are currently focusing on two primary programs in Uganda:
A. We assist the Pit-tek Women in Jinja and Kitgum Uganda with:
1. marketing their beaded jewelry, cloth sling bags and tie-dyed silk scarves in the US.
2. conducting a child sponsorship program to help support sponsored children by paying for primary/secondary school fees, uniforms and school supplies.
3. providing training to the women in areas of income-generation, and computer/internet skills including running an email pen pal program.
4. providing assistance, training, and some funds for the women to conduct their own revolving loan program so they can make their own loans to members at interest rates more favorable than standard microlending programs.
B. We assist the Maranatha Orphanage and Schools in Mityana, Uganda with:
1. Additional funding for the newly opened secondary/vocational school. The school needs more vocational equipment such as sewing machines and carpentry tools, and more secondary level books for its library.
2. Additional funding to continue the chicken raising project which began in April 2007. Currently, the project raises 1,200 chickens. However, if additional buildings can be completed, up to 10,000 chickens can be raised. The current eggs/chickens are mostly used internally. However, additional chickens are intended to become an income-generating opportunity through selling the eggs in the community.
Upcoming Events
Our "bead selling season" begins in early September and continues through mid-December. If you would like to help sell beads in your area, please contact us! You can make a difference.

What Sets Us Apart
We are focused on helping our projects with income-generating ideas and endeavors so that the people and projects can be empowered to lift themselves out of poverty. OU will spend at least one month per year on site in Uganda to make sure its projects are running smoothly and addressing the projects' primary needs and concerns, and making sure donors funds are being used in the most beneficial and efficient manner.
Objectives for This Fiscal Year
Increase our US marketing of the beaded jewelry products, and especially with our new cloth sling bags and tie-dyed silk scarves. If you know of wholesale contacts that might help us, please contact carol@outreachuganda.org.
Provide school sponsorship for at least 50 additional children of the women beaders.
Find additional "email pen pals" for this year's graduates of the computer/internet class for the women beaders.
Provide additional financial assistance to the Mityana secondary/vocational school.
Recent Accomplishments
