I am thrilled to be part of such an amazing Network!!
I've been an ambassador for NEDA for 7 years now.  I suffered from an eating disorder 9 years ago, and know all too well the struggles and distruction this disease can cause to ones life.  NEDA and I share a vision and dream of one day having a world without eating disorders.  We strive to educate and instill awareness of the dangers and signs of eating disorders.
I also chose to start the Jamie-Lynn Sigler Foundation a few years ago, to further my efforts and support of NEDA.

Another organization that I have begun to be active with is Operation Smile. Operation Smile's volunteer medical professionals travel around the world to treat children suffering from facial deformities. Their efforts mean new smiles for thousands of children.  It only costs $240 or $20 a month for one operation!!!, and to change a child's life.. giving them the gift of a smile means a lifetime of joy!!

Causes
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the largest not-for-profit organization in the United States working to prevent eating disorders and provide treatment referrals to those suffering from anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder and those concerned with body image and weight issues. The Jamie-Lynn Sigler Foundation offers its support to NEDA in their mission to expand public understanding of eating disorders and promote access to quality treatment for those affected, along with support for their families, through education, advocacy and research. Operation Smile Throughout the world, Operation Smile volunteers repair childhood facial deformities while building public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. Together, we create smiles, change lives, heal humanity.

Dear Jamie, please help us to reach out to our children by giving them back the hope they deserve. Today, many of so called nonprofits has taken advantage of our caring people and not enough help goes towards actually helping others...please visit our website for we are on a mission to lead others to re-focus on what we all started out to do...although we have a dream in finding a cure, we don't have people who truly can help us to reach out to our communities and public. I hope and pray that you will give us the push to move forward. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

God Bless

Love the profile! So encouraging to see that you are utilizing your celebrity status to further the cause of good and encouraging others to go with the 'pay it forward' principle!
I own a company that promotes and markets the use of over 300 'Blue Pine' wood products and log homes that are manufactured by local craftsmen, from timber in Colorado's devastated beetle-killed forests. In essence, we are helping in the salvaging and recycling of millions of dead trees that will otherwise fall to the forest floor, or burn in a wildfire of unimaginable magnitude and creating untold hardships for millions and millions of people. Additionally, our mission is to bring national awareness to the extensive issues created by this epidemic which has already killed over 1.5 million acres of high country forests. Studies indicate that this plight is going to cost well into the hundreds of millions of dollars to resolve and we want to see pro-active steps taken to reduce this cost and the impacts on our forests, water, wildlife, tourism, home values, and much more. Our entrepreneurial efforts have been written about-from the LA Times to the Boston Globe, yet we need a lot more help in our efforts and wish to partner with many organizations in accomplishing our goals to provide the 'blended value' of economic, environmental and social benefits to our state and our country. May we both be blessed in our efforts to do the right thing.
Sincerely,

Hello! My name is Amber and I am a junior nursing senator for the Student Government Association at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This year, we are hosting X-treme Spring Break 2008: Students Rebuilding Louisiana. You can read all about it on my profile, but it basically consists of about 150 students housed at ULL spending their spring break rebuilding communities that are still destroyed from hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We are planning so many fun events for our volunteers as well as guest speakers. Unfortunately the guest speaker portion of the event has not been a favorite for our students. This year, I want to change that and would like speakers who can touch our students. We will be housing the girls in one auditorium and the guys in another. I think it would be more than amazing if you would like to speak to our girls about eating disorders. They will all be college students - a time of worrying about body image for many. The event will be March 24-29, 2008. If you are interested or would like more info, please contact me @ amr3597@louisiana.edu. Thank you SO much!
