A Businesses Who Care National Sponsor

Overview
About Me :
My name is Jessica. I am 26 years old from New Jersey. I have a degree in International Business, though I've never been off the east coast. One of these days I'll find enough valium to get me on an airplane and discover there's more to this world than the east coast of the U.S. I have two tattoos--a pair of small angel wings on my back and a hummingbird on my right ankle. My boyfriend's a little bit country. And I'm a little bit rock'n'roll. I have two adorable pups, Beau and Dusty. ♥

Causes And Collaboration
About My Causes
Health, heart and happiness can sum it up in three words. After being diagnosed with MVP and having a family with heart history, I took it upon myself to read and get involved with the AHA. I've been a longtime friend to animals and would love to put a smile on every child's face. I believe one person can make a difference no matter how great or small. Every bit counts!
I Donate to these nonprofits:
American Heart Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PCRF, IDA and more!
I Volunteer at These Nonprofits
A few years ago when it came to my attention that one of my favorite musicians was diagnosed with acute lymphatic lukemia (Andrew McMahon, Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin), I immediately got to work on a fund called "Flowers for Andrew" in which I created floral accessories in the form of brooches and hair clips to raise money for the PCRF (the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation in which Andrew wished his fans would donate to in lieu of gifts to him). While my fund has been inactive, I still find different ways to donate to many different organizations whether it be by monetary or in-kind gifts.
Other Ways I Make a Difference in My Community and the World
- I'm a big fan of reusing and recycling and believe another person's "junk" is definitely someone else's "treasure"
- As part of my college's student government, I took part in helping to raise $1000 for tsunami relief
- I donated books to the New Orleans library
- I buy my pet goodies from sites that donate profits to rescued animal organizations (http://www.woofandfamous.com/)
- I love to educate and spread the word about causes I'm passionate about
- I've rescued animals and reported locations I felt unfit for animals and the health of others
- I've given in-kind gifts to children's hospitals and projects as well as battered women's shelters
- I've sponsored a child
- I believe in putting good back into the earth by planting every spring (it's something I got to enjoy together with my boyfriend!), including a rose bush this year with a portion of proceeds of the purchase going to the Princess Diana Foundation
- I recently purchased a bird feeder and now enjoy watching different birds gather in my backyard
- I rescued a dove a few years ago that had fallen from a tree
- I try to conserve energy and water as much as possible
