About Us
FMAR is a non-profit 501(c) 3 rescue for dogs and cats that started in April 2003.
Our Organization's Mission
The mission of FMAR is to protect animals and residents by creating a safe and healthy environment for all.
Who We Serve
FMAR helps the Animal Control facility find homes for the strays they pick up or are brought to them. When there is extra space FMAR does its best to help out neighboring communities as well. For example, FMAR took in Hurricane Katrina dogs and successfully found them permanent homes.
Our Programs
FMAR's main program is to find cats and dogs loving and permanent homes. All the animals get a complete health checkup, are micro-chipped and sterilized before they get placed into their forever homes.
FMAR also has a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) for feral cats. This program is free to the community and its main objective is to reduce feral cat overpopulation.

What Sets Us Apart
FMAR is a no-kill shelter.
Objectives for This Fiscal Year
The need in the community is greater than FMAR can support. Belleville and Sumpter Township are growing, and as the communities grow, the need that animals face also grows. The small barn, which is the shelter facility, is currently at complete capacity. Our objective is to raise enough money to renovate the 8200 square feet barn also on the property. Once completed, the new shelter will be a state of the art facility that will house 28 dog kennels, 7 community cat areas, a small clinic and a training area.
