Organization Overview
About Us
Cops Running for Charity (CRFC) is a group of Ventura County Sheriff's Deputies that formed a non-profit public service based in Thousand Oaks, CA. We compete in Marathons and other extreme races across the world to raise money for worthy nonprofit organizations, and use one hundred percent of all money donated directly for supporting these causes. Our members pay their own race and travel expenses, and have spent their careers serving the community.
Who We Are
We are a group of Ventura County Sheriff Deputies that push ourselves to the peak of physical fitness to raise money for nonprofit organizations that serve youth and community wellness and the medical treatment of disease.
Our Organization's Mission
It's simple-- Our mission is to help others. Give to the C.R.F.C fund, and in turn, we will challenge ourselves to compete in ultra-marathons and promote fundraising for needy medical charities. We are the charity that gives to charities.
Who We Serve
Youth and medical charities for treating our communities. 100% of the funds we raise during our campaigns go directly to worthy non-profit organizations. We cover all our own travel and expense costs. There are no taxpayer dollars being used for this charity.
Upcoming Events
In March of 2009, our volunteer team is running an extreme cross-country marathon at the bottom of the South American continent, over 2000 miles at sea. We will be at Easter Island. This physically demanding terrain is home to the one of the most remote marathons in the world.

What Sets Us Apart
We are a grass roots organization. No overhead and no paid staff. We rely solely on the motivation of being police officers and wanting to make a difference in people's lives. For us, being a cop means helping people.
Objectives for This Fiscal Year
This year we are raising money that goes toward combating Juvenile Diabetes.
Recent Accomplishments
During the summer of 2008, CRFC traveled to Iceland and ran the extreme-ultra-marathon across the snow- capped volcanoes and ice crusted rivers. The freezing weather and difficult topography only made us more determined to overcome the physical challenge. Our volunteer team succeeded in the race and we fulfilled our promise to the community by raising money to benefit Children’s Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation, ALS, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). These important charities provide medical treatment care for children who are suffering and research for wiping out illnesses that attack our communities and families.

The year prior, our fundraising event for 2007 was a success when we ran across a difficult section of the Great Wall of China. We raised over $20,000 for that challenge and gave the funds to Children’s Hospital, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, Alzheimer’s Foundation, Hospice, and Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS).
