An Issue I Would Like to Learn More About
Over the past few years I have been traveling with my band The Durgas to conflict prone areas such as Kosovo and the Burmese refugee camps in Thailand, to play music with the local people because I have witnessed the profoundly positive effects music can have on everyone involved. We have been funding these trips ourselves, which limits what we are able to accomplish, so I am interested in starting a non-profit and learning how to fund raise to make these trips happen on a more regular basis, as well as to get other bands involved.

About My Causes
Taking my music to areas where people and especially children don't get the chance to hear or see live performed music as much as they deserve. I believe in the healing powers of music when delivered from the soul no matter what type. I experienced it first hand performing in conflict zones and know that music has the power and cause to changing all our lives! Visit my Band website at www.thedurgas.com

I came over here to send you a quick note of thanks, but wow... I just got goosebumps reading your profile...

I am the mother of three autistic children and am inspired by your message... I will tell you, on our worst days, the music gets pretty loud around here... there is magic in music for my children.

They've been lucky enough to have been exposed to live music very young.. my twins went to their first Jazz Festival at 3 months of age and by 16 months were slam dancing backstage ;o)

I tell them now (they're 9) that we used to "rock" them to sleep... heavy guitar riffs still put them to sleep... LOL

It is my pleasure to meet you and be part of your friends' network.

Benjii - Welcome to Make The Difference Network! Your idea of using music to heal the wounds of conflict is powerful. I hope MTDN can help in your efforts.
